Taaqtuq ubluriaq : Dark star

Summary: PIQSIQ is back with Taaqtuq Ubluriaq: Dark Star, a tale told through story and song to a classic PIQSIQ soundscape. PIQSIQ guides listeners through the haunting story of Ubluriaq, a young woman who stretches the confines of her humanity through a strange encounter with The Beyond. Comprised of four story tracks and three song tracks, PIQSIQ’s newest album is a welcomed addition to their library of innovative and genre-breaking works. The creative chemistry shared between sisters Inuksuk Mackay and Tiffany Ayalik is taken to another level as they call their audience into a world of their own making. Taaqtuq Ubluriaq: Dark Star is a chilling fantasy account that challenges typical perspectives of the light and dark dichotomy. In creating the world and the story that takes place, the sisters sought to conjure up a series of pieces that invite listeners to join them in exploring the mysteries wrapped up in the human experience. A reimagining of the types of traditional Inuit legends they devoured as children, this journey is one of enchantments, longing to know what lies beyond the veil, and the call to embrace our darker natures. Siren Summons is a mesmerizing track built with soaring harmonies that walk the razor point between fear and allure. Arctic Hallows carries listeners both backward and forward at once via it’s retro, synthy, dance vibes with a twist. Ubluriaq is both macabre and upbeat with its deep beats and bewitching melody line. Each track comes together to flesh out Ubluriaq’s story in a dark and satisfying way.
